Pim (1979) is a cultural historian at Utrecht University. He works as a postdoctoral researcher in the project Digital Humanities Approaches to Reference Cultures: The Emergence of the United States in Public Discourse in the Netherlands, 1890-1990. Pim Huijnen studied History at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and obtained his PhD at the University of Amsterdam in 2011. Melvin (1982) studied American studies and Cultural Analysis at Utrecht University and the University of Amsterdam. Currently, he works as a PhD student in the project Digital Humanities Approaches to Reference Cultures: The Emergence of the United States in Public Discourse in the Netherlands, 1890-1990 at Utrecht University. The focus of his research is the United States as a model for Dutch debates on consumerism and consumption.
